Kindness costs nothing and can bring real joy to people around you
Yesterday was World Kindness Day.
World Kindness Day was first introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement - a coalition of organisations from around the world which was established to encourage kindness and goodwill as core values. World Kindness Day is now celebrated in many countries on November 13th.

30 small and simple ways to spread kindness
Here are some simple ways you can spread kindness at home, in your workplace and in your community…
🙂 🏡 At home with family & friends
Send a quick message telling someone you appreciate them.
Make a cup of tea or coffee for someone without being asked.
Give genuine compliments freely.
Offer help with a chore before the other person asks.
Check in on someone you haven’t spoken to in a while.
Leave a kind note in a lunchbox, on a mirror, or in a car.
Cook someone’s favourite meal or snack “just because.”
Give someone your full attention when they are talking to you.
Celebrate small wins or milestones with words of encouragement.
Share something you know will make them smile (a photo, a memory, a funny video).
🙂 📆 In the workplace
Thank a colleague for something specific they’ve done.
Bring in snacks or a shared morning tea.
Hold the lift or open a door for someone rushing.
Offer help to a coworker who looks overwhelmed.
Leave a positive note on a shared whiteboard or in a team chat.
Listen actively during meetings.
Give credit publicly when someone else contributed to a win.
Share useful resources or knowledge without being asked.
Make space for quieter colleagues to have their say.
Say good morning and goodbye — it sets a positive tone.
🙂 🌱 In the community
Smile at people you pass — it’s simple but powerful.
Let someone go ahead of you in a queue if they’re in a rush or have fewer items.
Leave a kind chalk message on a footpath or a note on a community board.
Pick up litter during your walk.
Donate items you no longer need to a local charity.
Support a small business with a positive review.
Pay it forward with a coffee or small treat.
Check on neighbours, especially older or isolated ones.
Share excess garden produce or baking with neighbours or community pantries.
Volunteer a small amount of time, even once a year.
