Scientists have identified a new species of wild cat, Leopardus tilcayo, in Bolivia’s Yungas cloud forest, making it the first new wild cat species described in more than 100 years. Scientists now hope camera traps will spot the cat in the wild.
The EU is proposing new restrictions on social media for children, including a ban on access for under-13s and limits for 13- to 15-year-olds aimed at improving wellbeing and online safety. Under the plans, 13- to 15-year-olds would have access through parent-linked “mini accounts” and be limited to one hour of social media per day.

Archaeologists in Peru have uncovered a 600-year-old Chimú tomb containing hundreds of artefacts, including ceramics, textiles and remains, shedding new light on the ancient civilisation that once ruled parts of the country’s northern coast. The tomb had previously remained undisturbed for centuries.
More than 100 countries have now ratified the High Seas Treaty, an international agreement designed to protect marine life in waters beyond national borders, which cover almost half the planet’s surface.
